An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Hepatology Assistant to join the Hepatology team at East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust. The post is for 30 hours per week.

The Hepatology Assistant is a dynamic and multifaceted role that supports the clinical and administrative functions within the Hepatology Team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the HCC Co-ordinator in coordinating patient care, managing data and reporting of statistics, performing general administrative duties, as well as general clinical work such as phlebotomy, patient education and fibroscan operation. This position requires an individual keen to blend the clinical and administrative work, working within a team of specialist nurses. 

 

Due to service developments, there will be a need to work from other sites, and be able to travel between sites is an essential part of the role.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Hepatology team delivering care to patients, undertaking delegated tasks with appropriate supervision from a Registered healthcare professional and HCC Co-ordinator.

Contribute to delivering a high-quality service for patients with liver disease and their families, with an aim to achieve equity of health outcomes.

To provide clinic support for the Hepatology service, this includes undertaking bloods and Fibroscans as well as completing the relevant documentation involved in the running of the clinic.

  • GCSE or equivalent to Level 2 Functional Skills Maths & English
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment, providing direct patient care
  • Computer literate
  • Car driver and access to a car Working across multiple sites
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care / NVQ 3 in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Experience working within a Hepatology Service
  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Knowledge of cancer provision within the NHS
  • Experience of multi-professional working Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Exemplary written communication skills
