Job overview

To provide an efficient and high-quality booking and administration service within the Radiology Department  supporting all Directorates in achieving key access

targets.  Validation, tracking and escalation of pathways and breaches.  Dealing with

in-bound and out-bound calls to agreed professional standards and providing administration

and monitoring support for the referral pathways.

Main duties of the job

 Provide an accurate, efficient and quality appointment booking service, including telephone appointments, face to face appointments and appointments on RIS ( Radiology Information system)

 

 Arrange beds for any admissions for patients requiring sedation, make the necessary arrangements for other procedures needing day case admission, ensuring that care pathways are prepared and delivered to the relevant area.

 

Highlight contraindications to relevant personnel prior to booking exams.

 

Action any notified cancellations or reductions in RIS as appropriate and

ensure patients are placed on appropriate lists, escalating capacity issues, vetting or short        notice cancellations

        Daily duty office role for the navigation of CT/MR bookings and queries              as per duty list, escalating to the correct leads for advise, as/when              required.

 Manage the Radiology waiting lists, planned lists and vetting lists in accordance with current policy.

  Be responsible for ensuring RIS is used appropriately across all sites for any booking cancellations and reductions of clinics and update the monitoring records.

 Ensure that appointments are allocated within Government waiting time targets, using advanced knowledge and skills. Entering onto RIS and Cerner with specific attention to the data items required for Commissioning purposes and data quality

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Respond to telephone and e-mail enquiries, contact with member of the Public and staff of all disciplines with tact, sensitivity, and confidentiality always.  Dealing with general queries and providing information such as waiting time information

Ensure correct documentation and authorisation is obtained from Modality Leads or their deputy before making alterations to templates

Develop close working relationships with the PACS team (Picture Archiving & Communication System) in relation to the maintenance of diary templates

  • English/Maths grade C or above
  • Knowledge of RIS
  • Knowledge of Cerner
  • Precise with detail and data collection.
  • Demonstrate ability in dealing sympathetically and sensitively with people
  • Ability to use own initiative.
