Job overview

We are seeking a dynamic Occupational Therapist to work in the different occupational therapy services across the East Lancashire geography, delivering care to patients.

The successful candidate will work alongside senior occupational therapists, therapy assistants and other members of the multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic and high quality assessment and treatment to a range of service users. 

You will provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention to adults and children with a range of complex mental health or/and physical health needs. Together you will devise individualised care plans which place recovery through occupation at the heart of the interventions provided

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join a joint rotational scheme offering 6 monthly rotations in paediatric, mental health and physical Health, acute and community based services, provided by East Lancashire Hospital Trust and Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust. This post will allow you to develop skills and competencies across a range of specialist clinical areas. The rotations on offer may include, community paediatrics, community mental health, inpatient mental health, acute admission, inpatient medical, inpatient orthopaedics, inpatient neurology/stroke, community stroke, community rehabilitation, community neurology

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be expected to have well developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with other staff within wider services where service users are linked in.  You will seek to establish and maintain useful communication with relevant carers/family /friends negotiating appropriate levels of involvement through agreement with the service and remaining sensitive to the particular needs of the individual and his/her carers. 

The successful candidate will receive regular professional supervision from senior occupational therapists. Learning and development needs will be identified through the appraisal process and there will be a wide range of other learning opportunities available through LSCFT and ELHT training offers and best practice forums

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of current best practice in within clinical area
  • Knowledge of health legislation and current practice, risk assessment and management
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance
  • Application of the Occupational Therapy process and relevant evidence base
  • Occupational Therapy assessment skills
