Job overview
Exciting opportunity to join the Contextual Safeguarding Team for 3 days a week to cover Maternity Leave until 1 April 2027.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 7 Practitioner to join our team of Nurses to undertake health assessments of children and young people who are experiencing or at risk of exploitation.
The role will be predominantly based in Central Lancashire, but cover may be required across the whole of the EmPower footprint including East Lancashire.
You need to be experienced in assessing the health needs of this vulnerable cohort of children and identifying and supporting them to access health care services to promote better health outcomes.
As a key member of the team, you will undertake holistic health assessments for young people, many with complex vulnerabilities. You will play a vital role in identifying unmet health needs, reducing health inequalities and supporting improved outcomes for young people. You will work collaboratively within a multi-agency framework and contribute to safeguarding plans.
Main duties of the job
- To provide high quality advice, support and expertise to LSCFT staff to maintain and improve the quality of safeguarding/MCA practice.
- To work with the safeguarding team and localities / networks to review and update policies, procedures and guidance as required.
- Attendance and contribution to relevant meetings with LSCFT, Social Care, ICB’s and the Local Authorities in relation to safeguarding children and adults as required.
- To contribute to the development of effective communication systems within LSCFT and other partner agencies.
- Contribute to the communication processes within LSCFT feeding into relevant staff meetings to ensure information that staff receive reflects local and national agendas in relation to safeguarding.
- Assist the safeguarding leadership team in helping to facilitate and coordinate the provision of reports required and provide expert safeguarding advice to practitioners.
- Establish and maintain communication with multi agency groups and individuals working on complex and sensitive issues in a range of inter and multi-agency settings.
- Communicate and analyse information in potentially stressful situations providing advice on all levels within the Trust and on multi-agency/disciplinary basis.
- Line Management responsibilities, including, PDR, regular 1.1’s, professional supervision and HR responsibilities (Safeguarding expertise).

- Demonstrates an awareness of the complex issues when working across organisations and disciplines and understands key elements of change management
- Knowledge and understanding of change process and organisational dynamics within changing environments.
Experience

- Substantial post qualifying work experience, Clinical experience relating to safeguarding/MCA (Currency in the past 12 months)
- Experience of line management/Clinical supervision as a supervisor/supporting professional development
- Up-to-date working knowledge and application of safeguarding/MCA/DoLs legislation
- involvement and experience of developing and using audit tools
- Proven track record of success of managing initiatives that have improved service delivery
- Experience of working with families where there are a range of complex issues
