Job overview
- To provide a high-quality Receipting & Distribution service
to Blackpool Victoria Hospital in line with Procurement
Department procedures and Standing Financial Instructions.
- To provide and maintain a flexible, dedicated,
comprehensive frontline support service to the staff and
patients and provide a support service to other departments
of the Trust. This involves undertaking a wide range of duties
including delivering and handling consumables to enable the
clinical and non-clinical departments of the Hospital to
function effectively.
- To assist Trust Management in meeting the corporate
objectives of the Trust.
- To deliver orders throughout the hospital site to wards and departments.
The job is for 37.5hrs a week which will be made up of 7.5hr daily shifts between the hours of 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday
Main duties of the job
We are now looking to recruit a Receipting & Distributing Coordinator. Reporting to the Receipting & Distributing Manager, the post holder will be responsible for providing a range professional supply chain and logistics service at the Blackpool Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
· To assist the receiving of delivery of goods and supplies into stores, unpack deliveries, check quantities against delivery notes and prepare ready for onward transmission to Wards & Departments.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES:
· The post holder will work as part of a team to provide an efficient delivery service from the Receipt and Distribution point to the wards and Departments of Victoria Hospital and deputise for the R&D Manager when unavailable.
- To collect and return empty cartons and cages to the Receipt and Distribution Department.
- Undertake distribution duties as necessary using both motorised equipment and non-motorised equipment in accordance with training and proficiency skills.
· Always maintain security of items in stores and ensure the efficient supply of goods to all departments in the trust.
· Book receipts into the Oracle computer system, interrogate and deal with problems regarding deliveries from wards & Departments.
· Responsible for ensuring the stores are kept clean and tidy in accordance with Health & Safety
· Obligation to undertake additional training where necessary to learn new techniques on materials handling & Information Technology programmes.
· Packing and returning unwanted/faulty goods back to the manufacturer.
· Instruct and train other stores staff on the operation of stores as necessary.
· Prioritising of urgent deliveries and notification of the relevant ward or Department on receipt of urgent goods.
- Have a flexible attitude to working hours to meet the needs of the customer.
- Provide cover for other Logistics & Supply Chain team as identified by the Line Manager
- Ensure compliance with Trust financial instructions and policies.

COMMUNICATION
Work closely with other members of the Materials Management/Procurement Team and wider departmental based Trust colleagues.
Communications will involve providing advice either by face to face or by telephone, within meetings, written, letters, memorandum and e-mail.

To participate in the development and performance of the Supply Chain/Materials Management Team in accordance with the Trust’s business plan.
Ensure that clinical incidents are reported and dealt with in accordance with the Trust’s procedures, liaise with appropriate staff and keep records maintained.
Advise customers of inabilities to supply and offer alternatives where identified.
Advise customers of slow or non-moving stock and act appropriately for the benefit of the Trust.
Ensure that a clean and safe working environment is maintained.
Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with the Trust’s Health & Safety policy.
Ensure that appropriate records are kept and filed on behalf of customers in accordance with audit procedures.
When required, provide input and assistance in introducing new technology processes across the LPC in line with departmental strategies
Report ongoing savings achieved in line with departmental procedure.
