We are currently seeking a Band 7 Occupational Therapy Clinical Specialist to join our Older Adult Inpatient Services at The Harbour, a modern, purpose-built facility located on the outskirts of Blackpool.

Main duties of the job
As the Clinical Specialist, you will:
• Lead a team of Occupational Therapists, support staff, and students.
• Provide expert clinical leadership within the Older Adult and Dementia services.
• Deliver and develop high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.
• Focus on enhancing quality of life and supporting the development of sustainable social and leisure roles for service users.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- HCPC.
- Significant post qualification experience in the relevant field.
- Clinical based Post-graduate qualification.
- Validated postgraduate qualifications/courses in relevant areas.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
- Extensive specialist knowledge of the care and management of patients in area of specialty.
- Evidence of clinical leadership skills including influencing and achieving change and professional development of others.
- Evidence of managing individual staff/teams and managing performance, including undertaking appraisals.
- A clear understanding of the NHS Constitution.
- Knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights and the competencies appropriate to your role to support patients’ diverse needs and human rights.
- Have a good understanding of their communication, physical & emotional needs; can identify their individual needs and preferences, their changing needs and recognise and promote their independence.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience in the speciality area including having worked as a clinical specialist (band 6) in area of speciality.
- Ability to influence and enhance patient care in highly complex circumstances and where information on life changing or limiting conditions/impacts are involved.
- Evaluation, audit and improvement of own and others’ clinical practice.
- Involvement with appropriate clinical interest groups.
- Experience of clinical team leadership.
