Job overview

LSCFT is an organisation that recognises and values the contribution of clinical psychology in the delivery of high quality services.  Psychology provision within inpatient services is established, well regarded and highly valued. This is demonstrated by the considerable investment into inpatient psychology provision.

Exciting opportunities have arisen for Senior Clinical Psychologists or recently qualified psychologists interested in preceptorship roles. We require motivated and dynamic Clinical Psychologists to join our growing team offering input to adult mental health inpatient facilities within Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.  Posts are available across Barrow, Blackpool, Chorley, and Whalley and it may be that you wish to have two posts together to create a full time post.

Candidates who do not yet meet all Band 8a requirements may be appointed to a Band 7 preceptorship role. They will follow a structured development programme to build the competencies needed for progression to Band 8a. This development and assessment period can last up to two years and is overseen by the relevant professional lead for the post.

Main duties of the job

•    To provide a Clinical Psychology Service to patients of the nominated team including the provision of enhanced specialist psychological assessment and therapy.

•    To offer advice, supervision and consultation on patient’s psychological care to psychology and non-psychology colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures.

•    This could include the supervision of the delivery and evaluation of structured therapeutic groups delivered by assistant psychologists

•    To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area in which the post holder works.

Working for our organisation

LSCFT values diversity and inclusion, recognising that talent from varied backgrounds creates a flexible, creative, and effective workforce. We actively challenge discrimination and welcome applications from all, regardless of age, disability (including those with experience of accessing or caring for someone who has accessed mental health or learning disability services), ethnicity, gender, religion, belief, or sexual orientation.

Our aim is to reflect the communities we serve, so we particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups. If you’d like to discuss your application, please ask.

We also welcome individuals with lived experience relevant to the role or service area, as your insight brings authenticity to our services.
