Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an integrated service in Bolton. Bolton community services provide therapy, care and support for patients in their own home. We help people to stay as well as possible in their own home and community.

We are looking for full time or part time Senior Therapy Instructors to work within our Community Therapy Team. You will work as part of a Multidisciplinary team, which includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners, Senior Therapy Instructors, Rehab Nurses and Pharmacists, Social Workers and Mental Health Practitioners.

Main duties of the job

Your role will be to work with patients independently in the community, usually within the patient’s own home, delivering therapy interventions to patients under the supervision of senior staff. The therapy interventions will include Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a service in Bolton where you can really make a difference to people’s lives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Our service operates 08.00-18.00, 7 days a week.  There is currently no weekend working for Band 3, however, this is continually reviewed. 

We have 6 Neighbourhood bases, which cover the North,  Central North, South, Central South, East and West areas of Bolton, and you will be based in one of these with your team.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English & maths or equivalent
  • NVQ or equivalent level of knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience with client group
  • Previous experience working within therapy
  • Previous experience or working within an NHS trust/health care/education setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to work independently & as part of a team
  • Abililty to cope with a busy worklaod
  • Ability to use initiative
  • Sensory skills eg manual dexterity
  • Ability to plan & manage own time effectively
  • Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to act as a role model
  • Ability to make choices for pt care and in some cases determine the best course of action
  • Ability to persuade/motivate/expalin/empathise with those with communication/understanding barriers
