We would like to recruit a full time equivalent Assistant Psychologist to join the Bolton Community Learning Disability Team.  You will join a friendly, committed, and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary team providing support to learning disabled adults in Bolton.  Psychology is a valued discipline within the team, and you will be supervised by qualified and experienced clinical psychologists to complete assessment, intervention and evaluation work with learning disabled adults presenting with psychological distress and behaviours of concern.  You will work collaboratively with other disciplines within the team, as well as families and service providers, to deliver high quality, compassionate, person centred care.   You will support our teams eligibility process and contribute to the management of the psychology workload.  There are also opportunities to contribute to service development initiatives, consultation, and professional development activities.  This role offers a genuine chance to gain experience that will help you progress your career in psychology. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Key duties will include the completion of standardised assessments including the WAIS-IV, ABAS and other measures of psychological functioning and wellbeing as required.   You will also have opportunity to complete autism screening assessments with people and their families/carers and will need to have the required skills to complete psychological reports and letters.  The successful candidate will contribute to the services eligibility process, including direct assessment with people and their carers, attendance and feedback of information at clinical meetings, and the management of the eligibility waiting list.   You will be involved in supporting the management of the psychology workload, including reviewing people on the waiting list, contributing to psychology referral meetings, and prioritising cases for allocation.   You will work directly with people and their families/carers to complete psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation.  You will have the opportunity to contribute to service development initiatives and research best practice to support the work of the team.  A key role of the psychology team is to support other members of the learning disability team to develop a psychologically-informed understanding of presenting issues.

Qualifications

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • A First or Upper Second honours degree in psychology OR a lower class with a post-graduate qualification, (e.g. Masters degree).
  • Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological society
  • ECDL or demonstrable proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Publisher and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS)

  • Post graduate degree
  • Further training in relevant areas of professional psychology

Knowledge and Experience
