Job overview

We are delighted to offer an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and dedicated Registered Dental Nurse to join our team within the Department of Special Care Dentistry and Paediatric Dentistry at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. This role presents a unique chance to contribute to the delivery of high-quality care, impacting the lives of patients across the North West region.

As an integral member of our team, you will collaborate with esteemed professionals, participating in the provision of exemplary care across various facilities, including Chorley Hospital, Royal Preston Hospital, and our outreach clinics at Skelmersdale and UCLAN.

We seek an individual with both passion and proficiency. Post  Qualification in Sedation is essential.  Desirable qualification in Radiography, or Special Care Nursing are prerequisites, ensuring your capability to excel within this dynamic and fulfilling role.

This is a permanent position, offering 17 hours per week, providing stability and the opportunity for significant professional growth within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Main duties of the job

We are an expanding department with  3 Consultants in Special Care Dentistry, 1 consultant in Paediatric Dentistry, Senior Dental Officers and a Dental Therapist, accepting referrals from across Lancashire and South Cumbria, providing a range of oral care for patients with complex disabilities and impairments.

These include medically compromised patients, anxious paediatric and adult patients, patients with physical and learning disabilities and patients with mental ill health.

We work closely with other dental specialties at the Trust including Restorative Dentistry, Orthodontics and the Oral and Maxillo facial team.
A range of treatment modalities are available including sedation techniques and General Anaesthesia.

Working for our organisation

We have 10000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients.  Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

As you may know the Government passed legislation requiring vaccination as a condition of deployment which was due to come in from 1 April 2022. However on the 31 Jan 2022 the Secretary of State has announced that this is being reconsidered. Whilst we wait for further guidance, as a Trust we have made the decision to continue to gather vaccine status during our pre-employment stages should you be made an offer, no offer would be conditional upon you having a vaccine but we need to make you aware that if the decision is taken by the government to implement mandated Covid vaccines in the future then your employment may be at risk if you do not have these.

Vaccination against continues to be the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and, of course, your patients from the virus. NHS England and NHS Improvement have always been clear that staff have a professional duty to be vaccinated.
