Main duties of the job 

By joining Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, you’ll become part of a dedicated team covering the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Theatres whilst supporting our Colorectal MDT. 

We’re looking for Scrub Practitioners who are passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred surgical care, adaptable to a fast-paced environment, and excited to embrace new challenges. 

As a valued team member, you’ll also play a crucial role in supporting and mentoring future healthcare professionals, helping shape the next generation of theatre experts.

We are looking for Scrub Practitioners who have a passion for providing high quality patient focused surgical care who have a flexible attitude towards work and a desire for new challenges. As a trust we are committed to the development of future healthcare professionals and theatres is pivotal to these trainees. As a qualified practitioner you would be expected to contribute to their development and support.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You’ll bring your scrub experience and a genuine enthusiasm for innovation, championing new ideas and positive change within the team.

You must be a registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with scrub experience in obstetrics, gynaecology or colorectal surgery ready to work with a motivated, enthusiastic team

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate NMC/HCPC Registration
  • RN1, RN2 General Nursing Posts/ODP
  • Evidence of continuing education or development for more experienced Band 5 nurses
Desirable criteria
  • Degree / Diploma
  • NMC Recognised mentorship qualification or willingness to working towards within 18 months
  • Scrub Course

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to practice
  • Awareness of changes within Nursing practice
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
  • Demonstrates competency during internship
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of clinical competence in area of Ophthalmology Theatre.
  • Knowledge of Leadership and Managemen
  • Research and Development
  • Knowledge of ethical issues
