Job overview

It is an exciting time to join us at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for Band 5 Mental Health Nurse to join us in our inpatient services.

Kentmere Ward is situated at Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal and is a 12 bedded mental health unit offering  short-term recovery-based care, focused to meet the needs of individuals with mental health issues. This enables people to return to their communities, and allows them to regain their independence.

We are looking for caring, empathetic, enthusiastic individuals who have a passion to improve the lives of our patients. These roles will be to provide care and support to patients who require mental health interventions, guidance or monitoring.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (M.D.T.) to develop person centred holistic care. Maintaining individual’s quality of life whist assessing them for appropriate community placements. This job also entails taking responsibility for the day to day management of the ward as required in support of the ward manager and deputies, including teaching, supervision of junior staff/students. This will also include managing a team within the named nurse model and all aspects regarding the delivery of care. The position requires shift work, including occasional nights, on a rotational basis.
