Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who would like to join our friendly and supportive outpatient Physiotherapy service. We have one part time post available, based at Leigh Health Centre with cover of hydrotherapy sessions at Platt Bridge Health Centre on a weekly basis.
Duties are varied (both clinical and non-clinical) and the successful applicants will be involved directly in the assessment, care and treatment of patients with a variety of conditions, under the supervision of qualified therapists.
A caring and considerate manner is essential to the post. We would expect the candidates to have a good level of general education, basic computer literacy and knowledge of Physiotherapy interventions. Previous experience of working in a relevant health related area would be essential.

Main duties of the job
§ To contribute to the overall Physiotherapy process by carrying out a basic review of patients and conduct procedures within agreed competency levels
§ To carry out information collection from patients/relatives as requested by Physiotherapy staff
§ To follow treatment plans as prescribed by Physiotherapy staff and identify and select activities that meet treatment goals
§ To work independently in a clinical setting with an assigned routine caseload, under the direction of a Physiotherapist
§ Instruct patients in the use of equipment and techniques to promote independence
§ Assisting poolside during hydrotherapy sessions

· To carry out a flexible patient centred programme of therapeutic activities under the direction of a Physiotherapist
· To enable patients to achieve their treatment goals
· To keep accurate written records and statistics as required by the service
· To assist in departmental administration
· To assist in the organisation and running of the MSK hydrotherapy sessions

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level III /QCF training or equivalent course in relevant area
- Evidence of basic level qualifications in both Maths and English
- Evidenced training / competencies achieved through current practical experience
Desirable criteria
- GCSE or equivalent in English
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a relevant health related area
- Experience of working with the effects of illness and disability on adults
- Experience of working within a team
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a therapy/rehab service.
- Experience of working in a Hydrotherapy setting
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to teach practical skills to patients/clients
- Ability to work single-handed with individuals or groups
- Good personal organisation skills
- Ability to use own initiative within designated role
- Able to recognise and work within own personal limitations
- Have good written, verbal and non verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Able to use basic Microsoft Office programmes
- Able to utilise NHS databases/ patient information systems
- Able to fit/ adjust mobility / aids for independence
- Able work confidently within an outpatient environment
Knowledge

- Demonstrate understanding of therapy interventions and the role of the assistant
- A basic understanding of relevant medical conditions and appropriate therapeutic interventions
