We are pleased to offer the opportunity to join our team within the Sterile Services & Decontamination Unit at Lostock, Bolton, as a Team Leader.


We currently have the following vacancy available:
• 1 x Permanent Team Leader – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7am–3pm

Main duties of the job

As a Team Leader, you will be supported to undertake all aspects of training within the department. This will equip you with the technical knowledge, skills and understanding needed to carry out the wide range of tasks required in Sterile Services. The role demands a high level of numeracy, accurate record‑keeping and strong attention to detail.


You will work closely with customers and colleagues at all levels across Salford Royal Foundation Trust and Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust sites, building positive working relationships and ensuring a high‑quality service.


We are looking for someone who is proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes and procedures within the unit. Your contribution will help us maintain effective and efficient ways of working, supporting the continuous improvement of service quality and performance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will support the Operations Managers and Shift Coordinators in the effective day‑to‑day management of the department. This includes ensuring that staff, equipment and other resources are organised to meet the needs of Theatres, Wards and Departments across the Trust for sterilised and disinfected medical and surgical equipment, as well as any other items authorised under Trust policy.


The post holder will be expected to take a proactive approach in identifying opportunities to improve processes and procedures within the unit. Your contribution will help maintain efficient and effective ways of working and drive the continuous improvement of service performance.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum education to G.C.S.E. (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
  • Healthcare Science Level 2 or above or equivalent level of knowledge and experience through decontamination training.
Desirable criteria
  • Supervisory course.
  • I.T. Skills.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in Sterile Services.
  • Supervisory role / experience.
  • Administrative experience.
  • Record keeping.
  • Stock control experience.
Desirable criteria
  • H.R. Experience.
  • N.H.S. Procedures.
  • Theatre knowledge.

Skills
