Principal Clinical Psychologist (Older Adults Community)

As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
- Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
- Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.
The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

Fylde Older Adult Complex Case Consultation Lead – Principal Clinical Psychologist
22.50 hours per week Based at Lytham Hospital, Warton Street, Lytham, FY8 5EE
Are you an experienced clinical psychologist with a passion for working with older adults, families & wider services?

Would you like to work alongside colleagues and teams dedicated to providing the best possible service for our older adult clients and families? If so, this job could be for you.
We are seeking a clinical psychologist with experience and enthusiasm in working with older people, to join the friendly and supportive community Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team (RITT) on the Fylde Coast. The specific role, Complex Case Consultation Framework lead, involves chairing multi-agency case consultation meetings as part of the Fylde Coast Older Adult Psychology Offer.
RITT provide a variety of approaches to support older people with complex mental health issues, with the aim of reducing the need for hospital admission where possible. A specialist care home liaison service is also provided to nursing and care homes. The role includes direct clinical work as well as providing advice and consultation and there will be opportunities for service development, supervision of staff and facilitating training.

The successful applicant will be working alongside the Band 8a psychologist, and assistant psychologist within the RITT team. As above, the complex case consultation role also involves leading on the consultation model across the Fylde Coast, supporting/supervising colleagues, and contributing to governance and service development.
The post is professionally attached to the locality older adult psychology team and wider network, both of which offer a friendly and supportive space, with a strong commitment to providing quality services for older people in Lancashire and South Cumbria. We also have close links with the local Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training courses.
This is a community-based post and, as such, the ability to travel across the Fylde Coast including rural areas and those difficult to access via public transport will be required.

Qualifications

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- Significant experience of working within Older Adult Psychology or similar
Knowledge

- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
- Knowledge of legislation, and its implications in relation to the client group and mental health
Experience

- Experience of working with a wide variety of client presentations that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
- Experience of teaching, training and supervising
- Demonstrable experience of conducting complex audit/research and service evaluation
