An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy General Practice as a Salaried GP.

PWE is a group of East Lancashire General Practices sitting  within East Lancashire Hospitals Trust. Being a part of ELHT enables more collaborative working between Primary and Secondary Care and a great interface with the Community Services that ELHT host.

The practices have excellent multidisciplinary teams and supportive clinical leadership. We strive to continuously drive improvements in the development of high quality, patient centred care.

As a salaried GP you will undertake a wide variety of clinical work including routine and complex consultations with patients, rotational on call duty, home visits and workflow and admin tasks. 

We are keen to develop any special interests you may have to further enhance the services we offer and wherever possible will support you to pursue this.

This is a part time position covering 5 sessions per week.

Main duties of the job

Practice based consultations - telephone and face to face

Home based consultations 

Participation in the GP on call rotation 

Triaging requests for appointments and ensuring patients are seen by the most appropriate member of the team. 

Make professional and autonomous decisions

Health screening and developing and managing care plans

Chronic disease management

Prescription management 

Other duties commensurate with role

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A medical practitioner on the General Practice Register under Article 10 of the Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003
  • Not the subject of suspension under section 41A if the Medical Act 1983
  • Qualified General Practitioner(completed certificate of Completion of Training
  • Currently on a performers list and not suspended from the list or the medical register
  • Accredited as a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) MBBS or equivalent degree

Experience

Essential criteria
  • In practice as a GP or Locum
  • Experience of and commitment to working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of working to achieve standards within Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF)
  • Experience of working in a Primary Care environment in areas with significant health problems
  • Development of areas of clinical expertise
  • Experience of audit and improving care for patients
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using EMIS

Knowlwdge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Understanding the roles of medical services in a wider public health agenda
  • Knowledge of the demographic characteristics that affect health and health care in the area
  • Undertanding current NHS policy
  • Understanding health and social needs of a practice population
  • Understand the issues and challenges facing primary care

  • Commitment to ongoing personal development / education and training
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English. This includes written and verbal communications
