Main duties of the job

We are looking for two Administration Assistant to join our established Acute & Specialist Surgery  Admin Teams. You will provide day to day administrative support to our Medical Secretaries, Support Secretary and Clinicians.

You will need to be a self-motivated individual with proven administration skills.   

Your experience in an acute/medical setting would be an advantage but certainly not essential.

You will possess excellent communication skills and be open and accessible to provide the required support for queries, advice and support.

Once you have completed your training, and feel confident in your new role, you will have the opportunity to take advantage of agile working on day per week if you so wish (subject to Service needs).

Great office and IT skills will be essential in managing your workload to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.

You will also demonstrate excellent organisational skills, be flexible in your approach, exercise initiative, demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism and be aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • Good general education including GCSE English and Maths (grade C or above) or Functional Skills English
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or equivalent
  • RSA Audio Typing qualification or experience
  • NVQ Level 2 Admin and Clerical

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Previous typing experience
  • Proven IT skills in the use of Microsoft programmes
  • Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS or a health care related setting
  • Experience of using digital transcription equipment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of patient information technology systems
