Main duties of the job
We are a 22 bedded high quality specialised area which takes elective and emergency Plastic Surgery cases. As specialists in Plastics Surgery you will learn a vast amount about complex wound management in wounds such as burns, traumatic injuries and animal/human bites. This is alongside the care of our elective Plastic surgery operations such as breast reconstruction, abdominoplasty and skin grafting. As a Ward 4 HCA you will be caring for patient’s pre and post-operatively as well as ICU step downs. Supporting patients with activities of daily living enabling them back on to the road of recovery is a pivotal part of this role

You will work closely with an experienced and skilled MDT team to provide Gold Standard care to all our patients. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards
- Take samples from patients for testing or dispatching eg: Urine, sputum, faeces, MRSA swabs, blood sugars
- Assist patients to meet nutritional needs in line with their individual care plan
- Undertake clinical duties relevant to clinical area
- Assist to maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines
- Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care
- Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
- Contribute to maintaining safe, clean, and productive care environment, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
- Maintain and develop own competence
- Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable numeracy and literacy skills in line with Level 1/Grade D/Grade 3 or above
Desirable criteria
- GCSE Maths & English grade C or above / Grade 4 - 9 OR Functional skills level 2 numeracy and Functional Skills level 2 literacy skills
- Level 2 QCF diploma (Qualification Credit Framework) in healthcare / NVQ level 2
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of dealing with the public
- Be able to demonstrate understanding of the concept and application of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working in a care environment
