Main duties of the job

The Radiology Directorate comprises Radiology, Neuroradiology, Ultrasound, Vascular (general) Interventional Radiology, Chest Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, including SPECT scanning and Oncological Radiology and Mammography service.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration and License to Practice
- FRCR or equivalent
- CCST in Radiology or eligible registration equivalents
- PLAB or equivalent standards
- CCT within 6 months
- MBBS or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Higher Degree / PHD / Masters
- Membership of specialist radiological societies
Experience and Skills
Essential criteria
- Training and proven experience in Chest & Cardiothoracic imaging
- Wide experience of cross sectional radiology
- Experience in audit management and the ability to apply research outcomes in radiology practice
- Ability to work and report independently
- Evidence of participation in and commitment to teaching. The ability to train and supervise junior medical staff and medical students
- IT Computing skills
- Understanding current NHS management systems including clinical Governance and Risk management
Desirable criteria
- Proven ability to lead radiology discussion within sub-specialty MDTs
- Evidence of attendance at appropriate professional meetings/courses
- Additional Sub-specialist areas of interest and experience
- Previous participation in a management role
- A willingness to innovate and develop additional services
Personal
Essential criteria
- Able to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, relatives and with colleagues in all disciplines.
- Written communication in a clear and conscientious manner
- Ability to supervise and direct junior medical staff and other colleagues.
- Proven ability to work as a team player in a multidisciplinary team.
- Lives within 45 minutes travel time to RPH
Desirable criteria
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills
- Car owner/driver
Research and Development
Essential criteria
- Evidence of interest in personal development e.g. through research and/or publications
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of peer reviewed publications.
Health
Essential criteria
- Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/ Good Medical Practice
