Job overview
Please note successful candidates will be undertaking a 30-45 minute simulated exercise call on 2nd June followed by a 45 minute presentation/interview on either 10th or 11th of June TBC.
The OD Practitioner (Senior Leadership Development) will take the lead for designing, delivering and evaluating a range of senior leadership development interventions designed to enhance the confidence and competence of senior leaders across our organisation, including programmes such as the Clinical Director’s Development Programme, the Matron & Professional Lead Development Programme and the Ward Manager & Departmental Manager Development Programme.
The role will also have lead responsibility for managing supporting interventions which further enhance our leadership programme prospectus, such as our Monthly Managers’ Updates, our Leadership in Lancs framework and our What Good Looks Like frameworks for People Managers. They will also lead on the creation and coordination of an Annual Leadership Conference.
The post holder will ensure any interventions are aligned to our organisational priorities, demonstrating a measurable impact on performance, behaviour change, workforce performance metrics, quality of colleague experience or culture. The post holder will need to possess excellent communication skills; strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills are essential too, along with a deep understanding of OD principles. Working collaboratively across the organisation, the post holder will contribute to fostering a culture focused on people and performance conversations which enable exceptional colleague experience.
Main duties of the job
Lead the design, delivery, implementation and improvement of trust-wide senior Management and Leadership programmes of work such as Clinical Director’s Development Programme, the Matron & Professional Lead Development Programme, the Ward Manager & Departmental Manager Development Programme or our Core People Management Skills.
Lead the design, delivery, coordination, implementation and improvement of supporting interventions which further enhance our leadership offer e.g. Monthly Managers Update Sessions, Leadership in Lancs Framework, What Good Looks Like Frameworks, Annual Leadership Conference
When required, support the design, delivery and evaluation of other accredited and non-accredited leadership and development programmes, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
To provide OD business partnering support to teams including the facilitation and delivery of bespoke team sessions which improve team effectiveness, team culture, leadership capability, support to navigate complex change or staff engagement.

Person specification
Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area or demonstrable experience working in the professional field.
- Evidence of structured professional and career development.
- Management qualification at diploma level or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
- Master’s degree qualification or equivalent experience (in relevant subject area such as MSc Organisational Psychology, Organisational Development or Leadership/Management).
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) or Chartered Organisational Psychologist.
- Qualified in project management techniques.
- Teaching qualification at Certificate of Education level or equivalent.
- Certificate in workplace mediation
- Psychometric test qualifications
- Coaching qualification or substantial experience of coaching range of senior staff for multidisciplinary roles.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience, knowledge and proven ability in delivering transformational OD interventions to support senior leadership development within a large diverse organisation.
- Knowledge of team engagement, team development, morale, leadership development theory and practice.
- Experience of evaluation and proof of impact of senior leadership development/OD interventions and programmes of work.
- Knowledge of a range of facilitation techniques.
- Significant experience of working as an internal or external consultant and providing a consultancy or OD Business Partnering service including experience of scoping, design, analytical and diagnostic skills to implement OD interventions to meet a range of different stakeholder needs.
- Experienced in the design and delivery of a range of leadership development and training programmes to colleagues at all levels and in all roles.
- Experience of working in a management position in a large complex organisation
- Experience of co-ordinating events, conferences, workshops or focus groups.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in the public sector or NHS.
- Experience of delivering equality, diversity and inclusion interventions.
- Experience of providing OD support to teams undergoing complex change and reorganisation.
- Experience of producing communications resources and utilising a range of communication channels including social media.
