Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional leader to drive transformational change as our new Associate Director of Operational Productivity.

About the Role:
This pivotal position will lead a major cost improvement programme, focusing on the redesign and centralisation of our administrative, booking, and scheduling functions for the 2026/27 financial year. You’ll champion Trust-wide productivity initiatives, deliver measurable efficiency gains, and support further savings linked to GIRFT recommendations and service reviews.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for operational, clinical, and administrative service redesign
  • Design, implement, and evaluate centralisation programmes to meet cost improvement targets
  • Identify and deliver further productivity schemes in partnership with Business Intelligence and Finance
  • Develop workforce plans and foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Enhance patient and staff experience through improved processes

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in a management or clinical professional subject or equivalent experience.
  • Appropriate professional management qualification.
Desirable criteria
  • Education to Master’s/Fellowship level or equivalent experience.
  • NHS management qualification.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial senior operational management experience.
  • Detailed understanding of acute hospital services operations.
  • Proven ability to manage change and service development in a complex organisation.
  • Senior experience of managing administrative outpatient and digital pathways
  • Experience of strategic planning and implementation.
  • Experience managing large budgets and successful project delivery.
  • Experience of transforming administrative and digital pathways.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of scientific publications or presentations at conferences/seminars.
  • Detailed knowledge of Clinical Governance and risk management.
  • Experience of whole sale administrative redesign
