Health
Essential criteria
- Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/ Good Medical Practice
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
- FRCS (Neurosurgery)
- On the GMC Specialist Register for Neurosurgery OR eligible for CCT within six months
Desirable criteria
- Additional higher Neurosurgical qualifications
- Research Qualifications (MD/MRes/PhD)
Experience and Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to offer opinion on and take responsibility for elective and emergency problems in general Neurosurgery.
- Neuro-Oncology Fellowship
- Experience in Neuro-Oncology surgery, including awake craniotomy surgery, brain mapping, 5-ALA surgery, MDT participation.
- Experience in performing Endoscopic Spinal Surgery (including service development)
- UK experience in Neurosurgery at Registrar level (minimum 2 years)
Desirable criteria
- Consultant-level experience in Neurosurgery in the UK
- Course/ Certificate in Endoscopic Spinal Surgery
- Attendance in 5-ALA course
Management
Essential criteria
- Evidence of Clinical Leadership
- Evidence of commitment to audit and improving clinical practice/service development
Desirable criteria
- Management Course
Research and Teaching
Essential criteria
- Evidence of publications and presentations
- Train the Trainers certificate/ Educational qualification
- GCP certificate
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Teaching activity and interest
- ATLS instructor
- On-going research project
Personal
Essential criteria
- Effective communication skills.
- Good organisation skills.
- Works well within a multidisciplinary environment and in a team structure.
