Due to investment in the pharmacy team, we are excited to announce the position of Senior Pharmacy Assistant – Procurement and Goods In. This role will be involved in helping the pharmacy procurement team achieve best value for medicines purchasing and assisting in supervising the day to day operation of the team. The job is mostly desk/admin based and there will be occasions where you will be supporting the goods in team in the warehouse. No previous experience is necessary and full training will be provided.
You will need to be enthusiastic, motivated and demonstrate a desire towards developing our services.

Main duties of the job
Working under the direct supervision of the Procurement & IT Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will contribute to the running of the Pharnacy Procurement and Goods In team. There will be a particular focus on ensuring best value procurement of medicines, including ensuring systems are set up to buy medicines at pre-negotiated contract prices and working with suppliers to process off contract purchase claims.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To supervise and provide guidance, training & direction to the Pharmacy Assistant Team within Procurement and Goods In ensuring that the following tasks are completed timely and accurately:-
· Update contracts in pharmacy systems
· Off contract claims
· Procurement
· Goods receipt
· Stock control and use of the Pharmacy IT System
· Stock management, including expired medicines, stock locations, invoice queries, including investigating and resolving discrepancies, supplier statement reviews.
· Line management duties, including mandatory training, designing rotas, absence management, competencies etc.
· Document retention, archiving and destruction
Person specification
Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- 4 GCSE Passes Grade C or above (or equivalent) must include Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- ILM level 3 or other supervisory/management certificate
- NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy (must work towards if not already achieved)
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a team
- Experience of working in a warehouse or pharmacy
- Knowledge of stock control systems
- Good telephone/ communication skills
- Computer experience including good keyboard skills
- Knowledge of Health & Safety
Desirable criteria
- Experience of using EMIS and Omnicell
- Experience in supervisory management and team leadership
- Experience of dealing with complex invoice queries.
- Experience in the use of Pharmacy or Stock control IT Systems
- Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice and MHRA Guidelines
