Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiatic and caring individual to join our Imaging department as a Radiology Imaging Assistant. You will be responsible for providing a range of personalised care for patients and a range of clinical duties under the guidance and supervision of radiographers of all levels.
You will support the productive operation of the departmental environment by undertaking a range of non-clinical activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
Main duties of the job
You will possess excellent organisational and communication skills, ability to use your own initiative, work within a team and be able to work under pressure to ensure targets are achieved.
You will assist the continuity of workflow in the radiology department, and will be responsible for but not limited to:
- the movement of patients between the radiology department and other areas within the hospital, provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards.
- Contribute to maintaining safe, clean and productive environments, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties to include, but are not limited to:
- Undertake the movement of patients between the Radiology department, wards and clinics and other by mode of Walking, Chair or Trolley
- Escort patients as necessary, to other areas of the
- To help manage and ensure patient safety is a priority during patient transport
- To ensure effective handover of patient requirements and needs takes place with clinical staff
- To highlight any concerns regarding patient transit to an appropriate staff member and effectively communicating any messages or instructions related to patient care to the ward staff or radiographers as appropriate
- To ensure any relevant documents accompany the patient
- Use the portering system to record patient attendance and departure
- Ensure wheelchairs, patient trolleys and associated equipment is clean and ready for use and report any faults to the senior radiographer on duty
- Take an active part in the maintenance review of equipment and help provide information which is used for Radiology Audit
- To promote the Radiology department and act as a point of contact between the wards and the Radiology department

Qualifications and Education
Essential criteria
- Basic General Education to 16 years, educated to GCSE level
Desirable criteria
- Basic IT skills
- Level 2 numeracy
- NVQ Level 2 in care.
- Care Certificate
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
- Demonstrates an understanding of the role of a band 2 assistant.
- Able to demonstrate Health & Safety awareness
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting
- Evidence of working at Band 2 in a caring environment
