Assistant Training Officer (Moving & Handling)

Job overview
We are looking for a passionate and energetic Moving & Handling Assistant Trainer to join the Clinical Skills Education team.
The role involves teaching the practical moving and handling skills to both staff and students and for clinical and non clinical staff.
You will need experience in patient care skills and the moving and handling of patients and must be prepared to undertake and achieve the necessary ROSPA M&H Trainer qualification. You need to have an interest and passion for teaching as this role involves practical teaching delivery 5 days a week.
This role would be suitable for development an experienced band 4 Assistant Practitioner, or a band 5 Staff nurse.
Main duties of the job
You will be working as part of the Clinical Skills Education team, and the post is supported by the Moving & Handling Lead. The post is based within Health Academy 2 at RPH, but you will be required to teach in Health Academy 3 on the Chorley site as well. Our classrooms are purpose-built training rooms and have all the practical skills equipment required to deliver fun and interactive teaching delivery.
The main role will be delivering practical moving & handling skills of both patients and loads for our Trust staff and students, but you may also be required to assist with M&H audits on Wards and Departments across the Trust and conduct workplace assessments in conjunction with the Moving & Handling lead.

• Assist in planning and evaluating of M&H programmes.

• Ensure training and development activities are entered onto the Trust database promptly.
• Assists with the delivery of ABLS and other training activities as required to a high standard.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC / HCPC Registered Health Care Professional
- Good evidence of CPD/updating knowledge & practice
- Prepared to achieve a recognised training qualification.
- Prepared to achieved the M&H Safe Handling of people Qualification level 3 qualification.
- Prepared to achieve the ABLS & Fit mask Train the trainer certificates.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experienced band 5 Nurse/Physio/OT with good experience in an acute ward setting

- Current knowledge of moving & handling practice and related Health & Safety Legislation.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of training /supporting development of staff in clinical environment
- Evidence of supporting students/learner mentor.
- Previous experience of delivering training in a classroom
- Currently trainer for ABLS
- Currently key mover trainer
