Job overview

Are you looking for a band 6 role but don’t want to choose one specialism? Do you enjoy variety and want to continue developing your skills within a wide scope of practice? Well then look no further!

We’re thrilled to offer a new band 6 Occupational Therapist rotation across Neurosciences, Neuro-rehab, Surgery/Vascular, Major Trauma and Acute Medicine so if it’s variety you’re looking for this opportunity is perfect for you.

Rotating every 9 months you’ll be working within our integrated teams of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants to deliver excellent patient-centred care. You will also work closely with the wider MDT to promote integrated assessment, intervention and rehabilitation as well as in partnership with our community colleagues to provide a high quality, seamless service for our patients.

Covering such a breadth of specialties will equip you with a multitude of transferrable skills including cognitive and functional assessments, in both the acute and rehab settings. You will have the ability to develop into a well-rounded specialist Occupational Therapist who is able to truly treat patients holistically.

As you can see this rotation has a bit of everything and that’s what we think makes it so great. We’re excited to welcome you into the team and are looking forward to supporting you in the next step of your career to ensure you get the most out of this opportunity so don’t wait any longer, apply today!

Main duties of the job

The acute Neurosurgery team and Neuro-rehab team are Specialist Regional Services providing assessment and rehabilitation following neurological trauma, surgery or disease within Lancashire and South Cumbria.

We are also a Regional Vascular Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria and therefore provide care for a wide population of patients with vascular conditions including those who need to undergo limb amputation. Alongside the vascular service we work across a number of surgical specialities such as colorectal, urology, upper gastroenterology and head and neck.

Our Acute Medical teams across RPH and CDH cover a broad spectrum of specialities. Your excellent organisation skills will mean that you are able to effectively carry a varied caseload across different medical specialisms.

Our Major Trauma centre is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Major Trauma Network and is a specialist centre responsible for the care of the most severely injured patients involved in major trauma.

On each rotation you will be fully supported by having regular supervision and in-service training specific to that area as well as team meetings to keep up to date with any important information, to share ideas and to work on service developments.

There is also a band 6 Occupational Therapy forum that meets each month that provides a space for discussion with your peers as well as presentations and training from a range of speakers.

Working for our organisation

We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients.  Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done.  You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.

You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of

You would be welcomed into a fantastic, established, multi-disciplinary team within both teams at Royal Preston Hospital. Follow us @NRU_LTHTR  and @NeuroscieRpH
