Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist Elective Orthopaedics and Urology and Gynaecology Post-Surgical Post

NHS AfC: Band 7

We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Trosolwg o'r swydd

Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist - Band 7 Elective Orthopaedics and Urology and Gynaecology Post-Surgical Post - Leicester General Hospital Permanent position 37.5 hours (Part-time/Flexible/Bank/Secondment)

Are you an experienced Band 6 or current Band 7 interested in developing your leadership skills? If so, this exciting opportunity could be for you. This post is part of a dynamic, motivated team - assessing and treating patients who have undergone Elective Orthopaedic surgery and Post-Surgical Urology/Gynaecology patients, working closely with the MDT to develop and evolve the services whilst aiming to reduce waiting times and length of stay.

This is an exciting time for this specialty. In the last 12 months, the MDT has collaborated to develop the Leicester Enhanced Arthroplasty Pathway (LEAP) which has reviewed and streamlined the entire patient journey, explored changes to therapy ways of working and has facilitated multiple discharges of patients on day 0 following primary joint replacement. To further progress the speciality, you will be required to have a keen interest in leading service development ideas, leading in a creative and compassionate manner.

In this role, you will be leading and supporting the Occupational Therapy team on a daily basis and will have scope to explore any innovative ideas that can lead to increased patient flow, service delivery and alternate ways of working. You will also be required to build links across the Elective Orthopaedic Unit, working closely with all members of the MDT. You will also be required to network with Trauma Orthopaedic colleagues in UHL as well as other external Orthopaedic services.

The case load is a combination of patients who have had primary and revision joint replacement surgery, upper and lower limb surgery, spinal surgery and some Trauma cases. The team provides a service to inpatient two wards and day-case ward. Alongside this, you would support the day to day running of a small Post-Surgery Urology team, a service that also requires further development and leadership.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
