Main duties of the job

You will be based full-time in the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service within University Hospitals of Leicester, providing input to the acute inpatient services at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital as needed. You will be working as part of a growing acute wards service which includes an Operational Lead, Band 6 and Band 5 therapists and a Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. Depending on service need, you may also have the opportunity to work in other parts of the service such as the Brain Injury Unit, Neurorehabilitation Unit, Stroke Rehabilitation Unit and/or the Acute Stroke Unit.

Main duties of the job

  • Working with adults with a range of acquired communication and swallowing disorders, their carers and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Supporting with morning processes.
  • Contributing to regular team meetings.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
