Quality Governance Coordinator

Job overview
Working within the Maternity Services at NLAG, the post holder will provide support for the delivery of the clinical governance agenda across all three sites. Reporting to the Governance Lead Midwife, the post holder will support the implementation and monitoring of robust governance systems and process to enable the delivery of high-quality safe patient care.
This role encompasses supporting the Care Group with incident management, risk management, clinical audit, and clinical effectiveness programmes to ensure high-quality clinical governance and risk management across the Maternity Services and the subspecialties within it. This includes both hospital based and community care services.
Main duties of the job
The focus of the post is on areas identified by the Governance Lead Midwife to support the coordination of investigations and facilitate Patient Safety Incident Investigation (PSIIs), developing reports and supporting colleagues to drive exemplary patient safety as part of the wider clinical governance agenda. The post holder will also support external inspections, develop appropriate action plans and ensure that required actions are completed. There will also be a need to support with review audits to ensure improvements are fully embedded and sustained.
The post holder will work closely with the Governance Lead Midwife as well as Care Group Clinical Leads, Director of Midwifery, Head of Midwifery, Medical staff, and other Health Care Professionals. There is a requirement to work independently across three sites, this requires flexibility in travelling.

Education
Essential criteria
- Educated to Degree Level or equivalent level of experience
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
- Training in Patient Safety Incident Response Processes (Previous Root Cause Analysis) or experience undertaking investigations.
- Health Professional with current registration
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Sound knowledge in relation to Quality, Governance and maintaining patient safety area of expertise
- Specialist Governance knowledge in a range of areas such as incident management, risk management and systems, clinical audit, and clinical effectiveness
- Working knowledge of IT systems in relation to clinical governance
Desirable criteria
- A good understanding of the changing NHS environment
- Knowledge of legislation and standards relating to health and safety, security, complaints, claims and incidents
Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria
- Skilled in presenting relevant written information in a concise format and produce high quality documents
- Strong planning, prioritising, and organisational skills. Able to balance competing demands and prioritise work within set deadlines and responds appropriately to urgent and emergency situations
Desirable criteria
- Project / change management

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
