Job overview

A registered nurse working as part of the Goole Ophthalmology team, the post holder is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.  You will be responsible for allocating and checking the work of junior staff and health care assistants.

 

Main duties of the job

Supporting the holistic care of ophthalmology adults and children.

Undertaking diagnostic tests and the admission and discharge of eye surgery patients.

Performing pre assessment clinics and supporting colleagues within the ophthalmic team.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Nurse - in appropriate branch
Desirable criteria
  • • Diploma/Degree in Nursing
  • • Qualified mentor (ENB 998 or mentorship award or equivalent) or working towards
  • • Evidence of Post Registration development in the relevant specialty
  • • Management qualification

Occupational Experience

Desirable criteria
  • • Minimum six months post registration experience in relevant speciality.
  • • Experience of being ‘in charge’ of a shift
  • • Training in handling and administration of blood.
