For all other Medical Workforce positions, the full-time entitlement commences from 27 days per annum.

An opportunity has arisen to join our expanding, progressive, friendly and forward thinking Pharmacy team.

Our progressive department has undergone a period of rapid transformational change to ensure that it is a service fit for the future and is at the forefront of the Hospital Pharmacy Transformation Programme. This included implementing seven day working.

We are dedicated to ensuring that medicines optimisation is embedded across all aspects of care within the Trust to deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective use of medicines.

This post will be based at Grantham Hospital but the successful applicants may need to travel to other sites within the Trust. Grantham is a smaller site within the Trust.

We provide a dispensing service to Outpatients and the Urgent Treatment Centre on site.  We provide a clinical service to the wards and departments on site, including the Hospice in the Hospital

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician who is committed, enthusiastic and hardworking. Duties will include working in the dispensary and on the wards. You will be responsible for leading the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers to ensure the smooth day to day running of the department.  

You will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be confident speaking to patients, nursing staff, prescribers and other health care staff. You will need to have experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting. Experience of using Pharmacy specific computer systems such as EMIS is desirable

Essential criteria
  • BTEC or Level 3 NVQ or equiv in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Eligible for registration with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ A1 assessor qualification or equivalent
  • Supervisory/Management qualification
  • CPD portfolio

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Experience of working in a Supervisory role
  • Experience of training staff in new tasks
  • Accredited as a checking technician
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working as a pharmacy technician within a hospital pharmacy
