We are looking for a person experienced in venepuncture to support the trust wide clozapine clinics and support the development of the service into the future. If you think you have the skills, empathy, determination and drive to help build this service and make a significant difference to others then we are looking for you!

Main duties of the job

Able to build a positive therapeutic relationship with people.

To collect blood samples from patients using venepuncture, take a range of physical health metrics, liaise with other members of the clinical team both within pharmacy and external to pharmacy.

Use your skills to engage the patient and make observational comments on presentation.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE’s (grade A – C or equivalent), including English, Maths and a Science subject or equivalent
  • NVQ2 or above in relevant subjects
Desirable criteria
  • Training in mental health awareness or any other training relevant to this post

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a health or social care setting
  • Working with patients/customers
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in NHS hospital and / or mental health setting
  • Knowledge of risk assessment principles
  • Experience in providing support for people in the community
  • Evidence of undertaking audits
  • Data collection & data presentation

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Venepuncture trained
  • Good communication skills both verbal and non verbal
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically especially under pressure
  • Ability to recognise when to seek appropriate assistance from colleagues
  • IT & Organisational Skills
  • Clear and accurate clinical note keeping.
  • Effective use of time
Desirable criteria
  • Project management skills
  • Experience of spreadsheets
  • Ability to present information in either written or visual forms
