Senior Audiologist

Band 6

Job overview

You’re already an audiologist - so why choose us?
Because right now, we’re building one of the most modern, well-equipped, and career-focused audiology services in the NHS… and we want you to help shape it.

We’re seeking an experienced Band 6 Senior Audiologist to play a key role in our modernised Audiology Department. Here, your work will be varied, challenging, and rewarding. You’ll move between acute hospital clinics, community services, and outreach sites, working closely with the wider MDT and providing leadership and guidance to colleagues. You’ll also benefit from recent investment for digital service improvements meaning enhanced systems and smarter tools that make patient care smoother and more efficient.

You’ll combine advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, supervising junior colleagues, contributing to service development, and working across both hospital and community settings. You’ll deliver complex diagnostics and rehabilitation for both adults and children and have the opportunity to specialise in areas of interest.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience at Band 5 level
  • Hold a BSc in Audiology (or equivalent) and are HCPC or AHCS registered
  • Can perform a full range of diagnostics, including speech audiometry, and manage complex cases
  • Have experience in mentoring, service innovation, and multidisciplinary team working
  • Bring excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be responsible for working with other members of the Audiology team to provide a high-quality Audiology service to adults & children served by the Trust and in wider community locations. This will include the diagnostic evaluation and rehabilitation of adults with hearing loss.  As this is a senior post you will also have an element of complex work to undertake and will provide supervision/advice to junior members of the team.
  • The post holder will be based at Scunthorpe General Hospital and will be expected to maintain a degree of flexibility to provide support at other sites as required.  The Trust operates an Audiology Service from several Community Centres and the post holder will be expected to participate in rotas and to travel to work placements at these centres, which may include weekend working on a rota basis.
  • To perform audiometric tests to include audiometry, speech audiometry, speech discrimination testing tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, TEOAE, followed by the subsequent fitting and verification of hearing aid amplification.  Maintain patient’s hearing aids by performing hearing aid repairs and maintenance and taking aural ear mould impressions on adults and young children.

Working for our organisation

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
