North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS trust require a highly motivated Estates Officer who will be based in the Estates department at Scunthorpe General Hospital and is required to play a proactive part within the Estates & Capital Management team to meet Trust’s objectives in a safe, cost effective, efficient manner and compliant with legislation and good practice.  As an Estates Officer you will report directly to the Senior Estates Manager and provide effective management and leadership support for Estates & Capital Services staff in Estates Operational Maintenance, Projects & Minor Works and other parts of the directorate.  You will support performance management arrangements and encourage team working by providing the varied skills that support the department’s philosophy and flexible working. The post holder will receive training in elements required but will have Engineering skills and acquire the skills to support this flexibility in a safe and professional manner. The post holder will be expected to work across the Trust.

  • Will be a member of a small group of managerial and technical staff who manage and operate complex technical systems and processes across the Trust, ensuring compliance with Trust standard operating procedures, policies and procedures and legislation.
  • Will be appointed to Authorised Person’s (AP) roles in keeping with requirements laid down in Hospital Technical Memorandums (HTM) and Health and Safety documentation.
  • Will manage all areas of compliance under relevant AP tickets, following clear guidance in relevant ACOPS, HTMs and other relevant documentation.
  • Will ensure the above compliance areas are adhered to by the estates team and that all paperwork is satisfactorily completed and follow on actions logged.
  • Complete data entry into paper and electronic systems (e.g. the completion of all job dockets, asset management details, time sheets and stock sheets).
  • Will participate in the On call rota.
  • Have a good general education and general experience of all engineering/building trades and will undertake on the job training or other training away from the place of work as dictated by the requirements of the role.

Education

  • HNC / Level 4 Apprenticeship Diploma or equivalent, or relevant demonstrable experience in mechanical or electrical engineering commensurate with the requirements of the role
  • A level 3 Leadership qualification or willing to work towards
  • A recognised form of computer skills training for Spreadsheets/ databases or ability to demonstrate effective use of programmes.

  • Registration with professional body.
  • AP Water Course.
  • AP Med Gas Course.
  • AP Ventilation Course.
  • Possess demonstrable knowledge of NHS procedures for the operational maintenance of acute hospital sites.

Experience

  • The ability to identify shortfalls in areas of activity and to identify underlying causes.
  • Ability to analyze a range of complex options making judgements to appropriately advise key decision makers.
