Job overview

We're currently recruiting to  bank roles within our friendly and supportive Speech and Language Therapy team based in North Lincolnshire.  

We're looking for experienced SLTs to support our service delivery across a range of communication and dysphagia caseloads in inpatient and community settings. Candidates should be autonomous dysphagia practitioners who share the team's passion for delivering high quality interventions  and embrace our Trust values of kindness, courage and respect. You will be well-supported by our B7 Clinical Expert SLTs  across a range of specialisms in conjunction with the Team Lead and Operational Lead. The team is supported by Assistants/Assistant Practitioners in acute and community settings and benefits from excellent administrative support.   We hold weekly Videofluoroscopy clinics and are developing  our inpatient FEES service. 

Candidates for community roles will need to have access to transport and the ability to safely transport themselves and equipment around the required geographical area during the course of their working day.

Candidates with an enhanced level of relevant clinical experience and skills may be considered for a Band 7 role.

Main duties of the job

The postholder is to both provide and support a high standard of care within Speech and Language Therapy, undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. To be responsible for providing a specialist service comprising assessment, management and treatment for adults with disorders of communication and swallowing (dysphagia) dependent on specific role.

To manage a defined caseload of patients using advanced evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, including discharge planning and facilitation.

Person specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered
  • Registered member of RCSLT
  • Wide range of CPD activities, esp. related to specialist area
  • Postgraduate qualification or training in Dysphagia
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant Masters level studies
  • Clinical Supervisor training

Experience & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Minimum two years post graduate experience with adult caseload
  • Experience as an autonomous dysphagia therapist
  • Able to manage own caseload/s
  • Experience of teaching other staff
  • Experience of working in the specialist area
  • Experience of working in acute/ community setting with a multi agency team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of several specialist areas of work
  • Experience of managing staff and other resources
  • Experience of presentations to a range of audiences
  • Clinical education of students, assistants or other staff
  • Involvement in research
