Job overview

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Business Support Accountant to join our Finance Department.

You will hold a professional accountancy qualification at diploma level, such as AAT qualified or CCAB/CIMA part qualified, and show evidence of Continuous Professional Development. This role would suit a person looking to undertake or complete further professional accountancy qualifications and study support can be discussed at interview if required.

The Finance Department are predominantly working from home but we maintain an office base in Sleaford and hot desking is available across the county, so hybrid working options can be discussed with the successful candidate. Regular attendance at face-to-face meetings with the department and wider Trust will be required so the ability to travel is essential.

Main duties of the job

This post will work within the Operational Finance team and will be responsible for providing financial management support to a specific Care Group within the Trust’s structure.

Work alongside the Business Support Accountants to provide a key point of contact for the Care Group and be the link for them with other areas of the Finance Department such as Business Development, Costing and Capital. This will involve supporting the Business Support Accountant working with budget holders in providing financial management support to help them manage and make decisions about their financial resources, considering patient care and value for money. It will also involve supporting with producing monthly reports of financial performance to both internal and external parties in line with statutory requirements.

As a member of the finance department, this post will be part of the crucial work undertaken by the team and enhance the already strong business support offered to clinical and corporate services.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualified at diploma level in an accounting based qualification eg AAT, Degree level.
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a financial environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and applying these to work.
  • Experience of generating, analysing and forecasting monthly financial reports or Annual Accounts
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of developing new or existing financial systems.
  • Experience of Both Income & Expenditure and Statement of Financial Position reporting.

  • Able to work under pressure to meet monthly and ad hoc deadlines
