Job overview
We are seeking a dynamic, forward thinking and compassionate service manager to provide operational and managerial leadership to the Mental Health Liaison Services at the Royal Free, Whittington and University College London Hospitals.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service Manager, to ensure timely and effective assessment and interventions for all service users referred via Acute Trusts .
The Service Manager will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality services across the three sites and building and maintaining positive relationships with acute trust colleagues.
Main duties of the job
· To ensure effective service delivery of safe, timely and high-quality assessment, treatment and interventions for all patients referred to the services by acute trusts.
· Develops and sustains effective and positive working relationship with acute trust leads.
· To ensure that services achieved Key Performance indicators as agreed on an ongoing basis.
· To ensure audit processes are in place to monitor the quality of assessments and interventions.
· To ensure effective management of patient flow within the three acute sites, including timely escalation to both internal and external patient flow leads.
· To lead on governance processes across the three sites, in collaboration with acute leads where indicated.
· Deputise for Head of Service as required, including attendance and representation at meetings.
· To provide effective leadership, supervision and appraisal to the Liaison Team Managers to ensure effective operational ruining of services
· To ensure that incidents are reported in a timely manner to Head of Service and the Divisional Associate Director of Nursing.

Essential criteria
- Professional registration
- Educated to degree level in health/social care related subject
Desirable criteria
- RGN
- AMHP
- Recognised managerial/leadership qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant management experience within crisis and emergency care pathways
- Significant clinical experience within crisis and emergency settings
- Leading teams through CQC inspection and or PLAN accreditation
- Experience of successful implementation of change management
Desirable criteria
- Experience of managing a mental health liaison team
- Working with external stakeholders
Abilites and skills
Essential criteria
- High levels of verbal and written communication skills
- Able to chair meetings and develop minutes and action plans
- Able to offer clinical advice in complex cases
- Support managers with complex HR cases with positive outcomes
Desirable criteria
- High level problem-solving and negotiation Skills
- Ability to multi task and work under pressure
