The Haematology team at the Barnet and Chase Farm Site is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist. The postholder will play a key role in supporting and developing specialist malignant services at the Trust.

This is an exciting time to be joining the department and organisation, with the Haematology department setting out a clear vision for the development of its malignant, specialist services. The successful postholder will undertake nurse led clinics and bone marrow procedures.

The post will be based across the Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. You will provide leadership and support development to the Haematology specialist nursing team as well as being responsible for the delivery of high quality, responsive, safe and effective care that improves patient outcomes and patient experience.

The role involves close collaboration with the Consultant Haematologists and applicants should have the ability to work autonomously, have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach, and be motivated and enthusiastic.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be required: 

·         To liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries.

·         To undertake haematology nurse led clinics and to be responsible for excellent standards of nursing care to patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating nurse-led clinics.

·         To carry out bone marrow testing procedures and develop advanced practice.

·         To work autonomously to deliver specialist haematology clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patients group and based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care.

·         To contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for patients with haematological conditions.

·         To contribute to training and education within haematology specialist areas such as outpatient clinics and the Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment day unit.

·         To promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through reviewing the evidence base and embedding this in practice through engagement in audits.

·         To act as a visible haematology role model and expert practitioner.
