Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, supportive Speech & Language Therapy Team who can offer support to develop your skills if you already have experience and developing interests. This is a band 6 post with development opportunities in DLD and specific speech disorders
Based in Basildon or Thurrock you will assess and provide direct and indirect therapy for children with a range of SCLN
You will be working in mainstream settings as link therapist and with pre-schoolers at Drop in sessions, clinic and pre schools. You will be supported by specialist therapists to develop your skills with children with DLD and SSD
You will be able to organise, plan and prioritise your workload, and that of assistant staff; demonstrate ability to generate strategies for caseload management. You will have excellent interpersonal skills (observation, listening and empathy) to enable you to work to support the individual needs of the schools, staff and pupils.

Main duties of the job
You will join a team of friendly and supportive enthusiastic professionals that support children and their families with their speech, language and communication needs.
1. 1. To independently manage and make differential diagnoses for a caseload of clients with delays and disorders of communication, speech and language and / or developmental language disorders or specific speech sound disorders.
2. 2. Devise and deliver appropriate specialist intervention / care plans / enhanced models of SLT for clients with delays and disorders of communication, speech and language and provide suitable and timely support.
3. 3. To provide specialist knowledge, advice, training and teaching to parents, carers, students and SLT team in all aspects of management of speech, language and communication delays and disorders in children
4. 4. Work as part of the integrated therapies multi-disciplinary team ensuring the delivery of joined up care plans.
5. 5. Contribute to multidisciplinary support for clients with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties.
6. 6. Develop and deliver training and support packages.

Starting with Us
NELFT places great importance on new starters being properly welcomed into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will also have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend several drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes, Essex.
