Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 or Band 7 art therapist to join our psychological therapy team a in secondary mental health service, in the London borough of Bromley.  This is a maternity leave cover post for 12 months.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and professional Art Therapist with excellent communication skills to join the team at the Beckenham Beacon. The post holder will take referrals from both the local Anxiety, Depression, Personality and Trauma (ADAPT) and Psychosis, Bipolar (ICMP) services. They will undertake assessments, planning, and evaluating of art therapy delivered in either individual, psycho-educational or group therapy formats.

The Art Therapy profession in Oxleas is well respected and represented at a high level within the Trust We offer art therapy group supervision and 1:1 clinical and managerial supervision on a regular basis. The trust offers continuing professional development and this will include mentalisation informed practice training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with clients from the ADAPT and ICMP teams, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating art therapy treatment. They will be expected to assess clients with complex and high risk needs for suitability for Art Therapy and facilitate a treatment program which is flexible and sensitive to the needs of the client group, involving clients in 1:1 and group work, using a variety of art materials in a therapeutic and creative way.

They should demonstrate a positive approach to multi professional working, an enthusiasm for learning and be able to think creatively about the development of the service within the Trust.
