Job overview
We are committed to the development of a recovery-orientated service in line with our Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) pathway. Our Recovery College offers an educational approach to supporting people with their recovery journey. Our courses are co-produced by experts by personal experience alongside experts by professional training. We are looking to recruit applicants with strong demonstrable commitment to recovery with experience of working and or using mental health services.
The post holder will provide a professional lead in production by developing and supporting Peer Tutors within the Recovery College. Engage and develop co-productive partnerships with health professionals, external agencies and organisations in order to further expand the Recovery College and the CEN pathway. As well as personally develop, deliver and evaluate educational workshops and courses for people with mental health problems, staff and general public.
This role will require substantial amount of travelling across Bedfordshire

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience. Minimum of three years working in mental health, social care, voluntary sectors or recovery focused services. Evidence of recent personal development
Desirable criteria
- Further relevant training, or equivalent experience in a related field Training qualification Project management qualification
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE Paid/unpaid relevant to job
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate experience in developing and delivering Recovery Focused, educational courses and workshops for service users, staff and public. Demonstrable experience of working with young adults with challenging and complex needs Experience of working, collaboratively with service users to assess recovery needs, develop student action plans and review progress Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions including knowledge of outcome measures.Experience of individual and group supervision in either in the statutory or voluntary sector Ability to undertake presentations and facilitate training sessions to a high standard. Understanding of the current agenda surrounding the impact of Self directed support & Recovery. Experience of engaging service users and/or members of the public. Experience of setting team objectives, motivating staff to achieve them and supporting their professional and personal development. Experience of working across organisational boundaries and with a wide range of professional groups. Experience of successfully managing programmes of work. Experience of applying psychological perspectives relevant to recovery including cognitive behavioural interventions, psychosocial and psycho-educational interventions and humanistic perspectives
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working as a peer support worker/peer trainer. Evidence of training in supervision
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES
Essential criteria
- Understanding of the values & principles of the Recovery Model and Recovery College. Excellent presentation skills. Good verbal and written communication skills Strong facilitation skills The ability to work as part of a team Ability to develop positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders during times of organisational change Ability to manage different workload priorities.
Desirable criteria
- Personal experience of using Mental Health services as a carer or a service user

- Additional requirements: • A preparedness to work flexible hours through prior arrangement as the needs of the job dictate • Full driving licence and access to the use of a car for work • Evening and weekend working hours if required
