Our hospitals and community sites provide a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, as well as emergency and planned care. The Trust is rated as “good” or “outstanding” in over three-quarters of the services inspected by the Care Quality Commission.

Every year our work includes performing 10,000 procedures in our theatres; bringing seven and a half thousand new lives into the world; carrying out 570,000 visits to patients in their homes or communities and providing emergency care for more than 300,000 patients arriving in our busy Urgent and Emergency Departments.

LGT is a centre for the education and training of medical students enrolled with King’s College London’s GKT School of Medical Education. We are a training centre for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. We are pioneering new roles that will support the changing needs of our patients and are one of the largest employers of physician associates in the country.

The Parent and Infant Relationship Service ( PAIRS) in Lewisham has an exciting opportunity for an HVAP, nursery nurse or perinatal nursery nurse, to joins us on a fixed term contract until March 2027.  Are you passionate about parent and infant attachments? The post holder will be a member of the PAIRS ( Parent and Infant Relationship Service ) .  In conjunction with the team they will contribute to the assessment of health needs and delivery of appropriate interventions to meet needs of families and Children under 5 years old as defined in the  clinical pathways of  the PAIRS.

 

They  will undertake duties as delegated by the Clinical Lead which includes child health promotion and surveillance, predictive guidance support and advice to families with children under 5 years of age. They work as part of the multi-disciplinary health care team, liaising and working with statutory and voluntary agencies to promote the health and wellbeing of the local population as appropriate.  They will facilitate group and one to one interventions interventions.

Key Result Areas & Performance:

¨     To work closely with the PAIRS team in the planning and delivery of health promotion activities and public health initiatives. The PAIRS HVAP will take on responsibilities in areas relevant to their competence and skills.

 

¨     Work in conjunction with the team to formulate care plans for a programme of intervention to be carried out either at home or clinic settings.

 

¨     To work within the team to meet the specific health needs of individual children and families. This will involve home visiting.

 

¨     To observe and report any changes and concerns to the Clinical Lead  as identified during their contacts with families.

 

¨     To carry out child health promotion programme in the clinic, at home or pre-school/Early Years settings

 

¨     To provide health promotion/ education in a range of settings including groups and 1:1 situations, using a range of media to get (evidence-based) health messages to the population, with support from the Health First. To develop appropriate teaching material/resources for parents.

 

¨     To refer to other agencies such as Speech and Language Therapists, Orthoptist, Audiologist and other child development specialist.

 

¨     Work with the team to provide on-going support to families with children with special needs or with identified health or developmental concerns.

 

¨     Advise and support parents and carers in helping children with language difficulties under the direction of the Specialist health visitor/ Programme Lead

 

¨     To take the lead and support other skill mix colleagues in the organisation of health promotion activities which includes parent support, accident prevention, home safety and encourage safe practice in childcare.

 

¨     To set up and facilitate group work with both the Clinical Lead and health visiting team colleagues.

 

¨     To advise and support families with children with minor illnesses/ complaints as identified from Accident and Emergency departments and other health professional referrals.

 

¨     To work with the clinical lead as required in managing Child Health Clinics and ensure a welcoming, safe and non-threatening atmosphere to all families and their children.
