We play a leading role in integrating access to emergency and urgent care in the capital and are striving to ensure patients receive the right response, in the right place, at the right time
Our main role is to respond to emergency 999 calls, providing medical care to patients across the capital, 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Other services we offer include providing pre-arranged patient transport and finding hospital beds. Working with the police and the fire service, we are prepared for dealing with large-scale or major incidents in the capital.
Job overview
- The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of excellent clinical care for patients by having the right equipment and products and vehicles available at the right place at the right time.
- This role is based on three core functions:
1) Trolley bed collection
2) Vehicle deep cleaning
3) Emergency decontamination cleaning - The post holder will be responsible for collecting LAS trolley beds from hospitals and delivering these to local ambulance stations ensuring beds are transported safely and in line with both Health & Safety and Infection Prevention Control requirements, under the direction of the Hub Coordinator.
- The post holder will ensure that vehicles are cleaned to standard and in accordance with service scheduling.
Main duties of the job
- Visit hospital sites to arrange collection of trolley beds.
- Deliver trolley beds across Trust estate.
- Work to a dedicated route for trolley bed collection adapting to ad-hoc requests for additional collections.
- To undertake a deep clean of Trust vehicles on a six weekly basis, as directed by management team.
- Undertake standard and enhanced decontamination cleaning of Trust vehicles as required, maintaining strict adherence to Infection Prevention Control and Health & Safety standards.
- Respond to emergency decontamination requests often requiring mobilisation to different sites.
- Use initiative to manage competing and dynamic priorities whilst ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
- Undertake the delivery and collection of all decontamination cleaned vehicles as directed.
- Plan completion of decontamination of vehicles to strict deadlines and any other operational requirements.
- Undertake all driving duties associated holding a C1 driving licence.

Person specification
Qualifications and Education
Essential criteria
- Current UK Driving Licence full manual driving licence (no more than 3 penalty points)
- Basic DBS check will be carried out
- C1 category on driving license
- GCSE English level 4/ grade C or equivalent level of education
Experience
Essential criteria
- 1 year of driving experience
- Previous cleaning experience
- Previous experience of decontamination cleaning
- Experience of working within a public service or customer care environment
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good understanding of basic vehicle safety
- Ability to follow processes and procedures (inc. IPC, security and H&S)
