Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics

NHS Medical & Dental: Clinical Fellow

Job overview

Within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department,  the post holder will be working as part of a team looking after a combination of trauma and elective patients, within a number of sub-specialties, including Hands, Shoulder & Elbow, Hip & Knee, and Foot & Ankle.

This is an opportunity to work at a registrar level doctor covering consultant firms and their elective practice coupled with the on-call duties of supervising junior doctors providing clinical care for patients and operating on trauma and elective admissions as necessary.

Chelsea and Westminster is a centre of excellence for Orthopaedic Sports Surgery. Several surgeons manage professional and semi-professional athletes which have unique problems and pressures.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be scheduled for non-resident on calls duties on the middle tier rota, which are currently shared between 9 doctors, supervising ward rounds, attending sub-speciality clinics and will be exposed to complex, high volume theatre activity.

Ideally the candidate will be able to practise under distant supervision in clinic once comfortable so there is plenty of scope to grow into the roles.

The Department has established working links with Imperial College NHS Trust which is our Major Trauma Centre and our sister site West Middlesex university Trust

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is an evolving, dynamic, growing unit in West London, with a proven teaching and training track record proven by GMC feedback and successive Orthopaedic Regional Trainer of the Year awards.

The successful candidate must hold full GMC registration, be proactive, eager to engage and be a part of the team.
