Job overview

Sexual Health South West London provides high quality sexual and reproductive health care to its patient population in an integrated, multidisciplinary model. It also provides medical education to St George’s University of London medical students and is keen to support research initiatives via the CLCH Research and Development department. We are an HEE-approved training site for resident doctors from St George’s Hospital and provide higher specialist training in Genitourinary Medicine for Specialty Registrars. 

 

This post will be based at Falcon Road Clinic, in Clapham Junction, with the requirement to work at any other identified sites as required to meet service needs. 

 

The service caters for a diverse population with high need. Our current service provision includes clinics for patients with sexual health symptoms, PREP, contraception including LARC, vaccination, young people and specialist clinics including complex PREP, genital dermatology, and chronic GUM.  

 

The post holder will be supported in gaining further qualifications if not already achieved (e.g., the diploma in GU Medicine and DFSRH) as far as possible.  

 

Multidisciplinary team working is expected. The post holder will be required to participate in audit, research, teaching of medical students and resident doctors as well as in service development initiatives.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for:

Clinical Duties

·  The post is for 6 PAs in the capacity of an integrated sexual and reproductive health specialty doctor.  

·   The post-holder will be responsible for investigating, diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted infections and all aspects of sexual and reproductive health including arranging appropriate onward internal and external referrals when required.

·  Dependant on experience they may be required to act as clinic coordinator on some shifts, providing support and advice to the junior medical team and members of the non-medical team.

·   Responsibilities  will also include checking and actioning laboratory results such as PREP monitoring tests.

·        They will be expected to be involved in audit, teaching and assist in the development of new and existing clinical services.

·         There are no on-call commitments.

·     The post-holder will be encouraged take up further training to gain competencies to be able to provide senior cover.

Experience

  • Completion of foundation training (or equivalent)

Desirable criteria
  • Scientific publications, presentations at conferences/seminars
  • Experience in service development
  • Teaching experience

Skills

  • Knowledge and familiarity of BASHH and FSRH guidance
