Look no further. Barnet Learning Disability Service have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Learning Disability Challenging Behaviour Nurse to join their dedicated and forward-thinking team.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a friendly and dynamic Learning Disability Nursing Team and can expect to utilise your knowledge, skills and experience by promoting excellent quality care through evidence-based practice and value-based approaches to People with a Learning Disability within the London Borough of Barnet.

The post-holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist Nursing support to individuals with behaviours of concern.

Education/Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (Learning Disabilities preferred)
  • Relevant degree education or degree level academic courses relevant to learning disabilities
Desirable criteria
  • Further education regarding challenging behaviour
  • Positive behaviour Support Trained

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post qualification experience in learning disabilities nursing in a community environment
  • Experience of working with people with a learning disability and challenging behaviour
  • Experience of care co-ordination for people with complex needs .
  • Experience in providing training to a variety of different audiences
  • Experience of overcoming barriers within primary care settings to ensure people with learning disabilities have fair access to healthcare .
  • Experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of service development work
  • Experience of making accessible information
  • Experience of working with social care
  • Experience of supporting safeguarding concerns
  • Experience of implementing the Mental Capacity Act
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in writing and implementing PBS plans .
  • Experience of completing continuing healthcare checklists

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Transforming Care Agenda .
  • Understanding of Learning Disability Mortality review program
