Job overview
Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist(Lead for Colposcopy & Special Interest in Gynaecology Oncology
This is a locum consultant post for 6 months with a possibility of extension to 12 months. The post is with a special interest in Gynaecology Oncology and Lead for colposcopy to join a team of twenty other consultants in obstetrics and gynaecology.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will contribute to obstetrics 98 hours consultant presence on labour ward. This is achieved by completing one day shift every four weeks, 2:4 weekday twilight/night on calls and 1:14 weekends. Gynaecology cover is provided via a 1:14 ‘hot week’. A single consultant covers both obstetrics and gynaecology out-of-hours.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Membership of the Royal College of obstetricians and gynaecologist or equivalent
- Name on Specialist Register on date of appointment
- SITM or ATSM in benign gynaecology
- SITM/ATSM in Early pregnancy and acute gynaecology
- Full GMC registration
Desirable criteria
- Higher degree (MD or equivalent)
- Accreditation in scanning
- Accreditation in hysteroscopy or equivalent
- SITM/ATSM in Labour Ward Practice or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology
- Manage benign gynaecology conditions
- Manage high risk obstetric patients
Desirable criteria
- Experience in gynaecology surgery (open and laparoscopic)
