The Pharmacy Department at Croydon University Hospital has a great reputation for providing excellent training opportunities for both Trainee Pharmacists and Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians. 

The role of the Pharmacy Technician is becoming more varied, and a range of exciting career opportunities now exist once qualified to work within various healthcare sectors including hospital, community pharmacy, prison service, Clinical Commissioning Groups and GP practices.

We are looking for enthusiastic, self- motivated and hard-working individuals to join our forward thinking pharmacy team as a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician Apprentices (PTPTs).  PTPTs will complete a GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) accredited/recognised qualification leading on successful completion to meet the GPhC's requirements for professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician.

Main duties of the job

Qualification is achieved through a mixture of studying (1 day a week) and showing competence within the workplace to gain the required underpinning skills, knowledge and competence. PTPTs will be required to participate in a rotational training programme, where they will have the opportunity to learn, develop and implement new skills and knowledge in each area of pharmacy including clinical ward services, dispensary, patient counselling, medicines information and pharmacy stores and procurement. PTPTs will have a comprehensive education plan for each area, and their training will be overseen by an experienced and dedicated education supervisor.

We are looking for individuals who are highly committed, professional, patient focused, in possession of excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to cope with the discipline of studying whilst working as part of a busy pharmacy team. In return, each successful applicants will receive a comprehensive induction programme into the Trust, an opportunity to work within a friendly pharmacy department where there is a strong emphasis on training and development, guidance and support from an experienced and passionate pharmacy training team and the opportunity to develop professional skills and behaviours in order to meet the registration requirements.

There will be a requirement to participate in working late nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
