Main duties of the job
The General and urgent care (Rapid Access Clinic) services at Moorfields Croydon is well established and aim at providing comprehensive ophthalmology diagnostic and treatment for patient with multifactorial eye health issues and eye emergencies. The complex patient demographics and the challenging pathology at patient presentation requires consultant and senior ophthalmic specialist input for a significant amount of the clinical workload. The same applies to the cataract service, which treats surgical cases of high complexity, deriving from this challenging patient population.
The 3 sub-speciality services receive referrals from multiple sources, including A&E, GP, community optometrist and internal referrals from other services within MEH, as well as external providers across the South-East of England and beyond.
The General and Rapid Access services pride ourselves on providing comprehensive ophthalmological services to patients who attend with a multiple array of mixed ophthalmological complaints, ranging from simple dry eye to complex trauma.
