Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated band 7 pharmacist to join our team at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You should have hospital pharmacy experience. Previous ophthalmic experience is not required; however, a solid background in clinical pharmacy and experience in managing staff would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

• Support the Senior Pharmacists in the delivery and development of high-cost medicines therapies, clinical Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation services across the division.

• Provide specialist pharmaceutical advice on the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medicines.

• Undertake regular audit to monitor and promote adherence to local and national guidance.

• To support and develop Trainee Pharmacists, Band 6 Pharmacists and other Pharmacy staff as appropriate.

• Work with the Associate Chief Pharmacists, Lead Pharmacists, Nursing and Clinical Leads and relevant Pharmacy Leads on service developments and improvements to ensure that Pharmacy services meet the needs of the users.

• Support the operational management of the Pharmacy services across Moorfields South

  • Ability to manage highly complex problems related to medicine usage and analysis

Education / Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Taught Masters Degree in Pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent
  • 1 year pre-registration training
  • Member of The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate diploma/MSc in pharmacy practice or equivalent
  • Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of providing a specialised clinical pharmacy service
  • Previous experience in supervising and managing pharmacy staff
  • Previous experience of mentoring & training
Desirable criteria
  • Ophthalmology pharmacy experience
